Ruokohelpi

Käyttö rehuksi tai energianlähteenä

Ruokohelpeä käytetään Suomessa sekä rehuna että energiantuotannossa.  Ainoastaan Pohjoismaat tutkivat ruokohelven energiantuotantokeinoja, muissa maissa helpeä käytetään vain eläinten rehuna. 

Hehtaarilta ruokohelpipeltoa saadaan energiaa noin 30 MWh. Ruokohelvellä tuotettu energia on ainakin toistaiseksi kalliimpaa kuin metsähakkeella tuotettu energia.

Ruokohelven kuljettaminen on kohtuullisen kallista raaka-aineen painon keveyden vuoksi. Suomessa ruokohelven käyttöä energiantuotantoon on kokeiltu muutaman vuoden ajan muun muassa Vapon toimesta. Kokeilu on lopetettu vuonna 2011 ruokohelven hyödyntämisen osoittautuessa liian haasteelliseksi.

  • sato noin 5-6 tonnia/ha
  • lämpöarvo 4,5 MWh/tonni, kun kosteusarvo 10 %
  • energiasaanto 20-30 MWh/ha
  • satoa jopa 15 vuotta
  • alhainen lannoitustarve
